A Primer: DrupalCon Presentation Training

http://www.flickr.com/photos/pahudson/2217562952/

I am incredibly honored to have been selected to speak at the upcoming DrupalCon Denver on the topic of International NGOs Leveraging Drupal for Social Change

As part of the amazing support in the Drupal Community, all presenters have been requested to attend (or watch recordings of) webinars on how to give good presentations, led by Emma Jane Hogbin of Design to Theme.

Below is a summary of the two hour-long videos, which I initially intended as personal notes, but later realized others might find useful as well.

Community-based Drupal training at DrupalCon Chicago

I'm at my third DrupalCon in as many years. This year's conference represents two firsts for me: it's my first as a CivicActions team member, and my first as a conference speaker. I'll be presenting on Community-based Drupal Training with three other people.

Announcing Two CiviCRM User Trainings

I'm really excited to announce that I will be running two CiviCRM user trainings in September and October.  Back in March and April I was involved in two similar trainings, one with Dave Greenberg from CiviCRM at the NTC, and the other during the workshop day before DrupalCon in San Francisco.  The feedback from both trainings was really positive.

More Drupal Training Opportunities And A Look Back

Our friends at Chapter 3 recently launched a training program and just announced a new round of trainings in San Francisco in February.  As Dries Buytaert has pointed out, with the growth of Drupal, and the increasing demand for Drupal development and site building services it is essential that more people learn to build websites with Drupal.

See You At Do It With Drupal In New Orleans

Early (far too early) Tuesday morning I am heading to New Orleans for Do It With Drupal, the Lullabot training conference. I'm totally psyched for the trip, not just because I can't wait to see so many Drupalistas and see what other folks have got cookin' with Drupal, but also because I love New Orleans. When I used to work for ACORN, we traveled to New Orleans every December for a national conference. I visited a few more times for Vintage Scooter Rallies in 2004 and 2006. In February of 2007, CivicActions held one of our full team retreats in the Garden District, and spent a day volunteering with Habitat For Humanity in the 9th Ward. Most recently I visited the Crescent City for the NTEN NTC in March. The city's recovery has been slow, but every event and conference that take place there help the locals, and help move the city closer to recovery.

DrupalCamp Vancouver 2008: CivicActions Sessions Selected

Earlier this weekDrupalCamp Vancouver Sessions were announced and 2 by CivicActioners were among them. Robin's session on "Introduction To Module Development" will be on Friday and 2pm. I heard Robin give a this talk for Six Hour Startup folks a few weeks ago, and even though I am no developer, it sounded great and others seemed to benefit from it.

Why I Wish I Was Going To The Social Tech Training

Social Tech Training When I heard about the Social Tech Training being organized by our friends over at Web Of Change it sounded awesome. As the agenda and speakers came out, my expectations were confirmed.

Training Six Hour Startup On Drupal

Yesterday Robin Barre and I spent some time down at the Saturday House in SoDo (in Seattle) training folks involved in Six Hour Startup on Drupal for an upcoming project called SiteFinder. SiteFinder will be a community maintained listing service for available office space geared towards startups.
