While some see colors and curves, David sees connections and code. The Linux command line has become a second home for David over the past 12 years as he explored Open Source technologies and gained a wide range of experience while providing services to clients. His focus has always leaned toward the functional aspects of the Internet: creating solutions which empower people to reach their goals.

David was solo a web developer and consultant for 12 years before joining CivicActions, working in both non-profit and corporate sectors. During that time he created membership databases, conference registration systems, discussion forums, and a range of web sites. Projects that he worked on in recent years include: The Royal Conservatory of Music, Canadian Charitable Annuity Associationh, Hill Street Community Garden, Democracy Now! (database migration to CiviCRM), Southern Poverty Law Center (http://www.tolerance.org/).

Discovering Drupal enabled David to provide these same services with refreshingly more efficiency. The richness that the Drupal platform provides for larger projects inspired David to work with others on larger projects and is delighted to now be a part of the CivicActions team.

At CivicActions, David’s primary role is behind the scenes helping provide tech support to the team working on our back end systems, and is also added to project work as needed. When he gets away from the computer, he roasts fair trade coffee, makes yogurt, creates furniture through traditional woodworking, and secretly enjoys watching classic star trek episodes.
