MashPit

MashPit - It's about time that we stopped futzing around and built tools that worked for ordinary folks, yeh, the ones who don't have time to live and breathe tech like the rest of us seem to. Most of the world is not like us (surprise!) and at some point, yes, we [del.icio.us] I talked a bit to Chris Messina this weekend at BarCamp, and he talked about the idea of mashPit, I wanted to call a little extra attention to it, particularly for the CivicActions team. It sounds like it might be fun! Here is what Chris says over on his blog:

BarCamp on Flickr, and a cool different way to view them

There are tons of pictures of people at BarCamp up on Flickr. BarCamp and BarCamp NYC were two of the most popular tags on Flickr over the weekend. I guess that is what happens when a bunch of geeks with digital cameras and WiFi access hang out for 48 hours. I posted a link to this hack from Rasmus Lerdorf (that he showed at DrupalCon Amsterdam) to the BarCamp wiki but wanted to get it into the various aggregated feeds. So I post it again here.

Three Questions with Amit Gupta

So if youhave been listening to these podcasts, you have realized by now that "Three Questions with..." is just a title and has nothing to do with the number of questions I actually ask. It is, however, the way I dupe my subjects into participating in the podcast: "Hey Amit, can I ask you three questions for my podcast?" Anyway, this is the shortest one of the batch, I think that both Amit and I were pretty burnt out, he more than me perhaps, but the point is after two marathon days of sessions, discussions, debates, blogging, tagging, photographing, it was hard to muster the energy to talk more.

Three Questions with Jakob Lodwick (of ConnectedVentures)

This is a short conversation with Jakob Lodwick of Connected Ventures. BarCamp is happening at ConnectedVentures' office. Jakob works on CollegeHumor.com and Vimeo.com, a video sharing and social networking site. Yesterday Jakob lead a talk about soft links in social networks. I talked about it a little bit in my first podcast from yesterday. Basically the idea is that there isn't just one type of connection between people, we have different connections, social networking applications should recognize that. The machines should be able to learn the strength of our connections based upon how we give our attention. If I look at your flickr pictures all the time, but not the photos of another contact, then flickr should stop showing me the other person's and show me more of yours.

(Way More Than) Three Questions with Chris Messina at BarCampNYC

I just talked to Chris Messina of Flock and formerly of CivicSpaceLabs about Microformats, Flock, Attention and BarCamp. Chris is one of the Founders of BarCamp and seemed to be pleased with the outcome so far here in NYC. He was also happy to answer way more than three questions, even given the late hour... Three Questions with Mike Goelzer and Brandon Stafford (at BarCampNYC)

I just spent about 10 minutes with Mike Goelzer and Brandon Stafford. I revived my "Three Questions" podcast format... however I asked more than three questions. Enjoy! Click to Listen
