A Primer: DrupalCon Presentation Training

I am incredibly honored to have been selected to speak at the upcoming DrupalCon Denver on the topic of International NGOs Leveraging Drupal for Social Change

As part of the amazing support in the Drupal Community, all presenters have been requested to attend (or watch recordings of) webinars on how to give good presentations, led by Emma Jane Hogbin of Design to Theme.

Below is a summary of the two hour-long videos, which I initially intended as personal notes, but later realized others might find useful as well.

My #11NTC #Ignite Presentation - The CPR

Here are the slides for the Ignite presentation I gave at the 2011 Nonprofit Technology Conference in Washington, DC.  At CivicActions, we're passionate about supporting and serving our clients in achieving their missions.

The CPR is a document format and a process for clarifying the outcomes and intentions of doing anything.  Several team members at CivicActions use it, we've used it with clients and I personally use it all the time. I'm happy to share this with you.

Community-based Drupal training at DrupalCon Chicago

I'm at my third DrupalCon in as many years. This year's conference represents two firsts for me: it's my first as a CivicActions team member, and my first as a conference speaker. I'll be presenting on Community-based Drupal Training with three other people.

Drush comes to Drupalcon Chicago

The session is still being developed, but as a taster we are planning on covering:

Information and Presentation Design: Gleanings From a Course With Edward Tufte

I recently had the opportunity to take Edward Tufte's one day course, Presenting Data and Information. Tufte is the master of the subject, and everything I've heard about his course was positive, I can now concur and recommend that anyone interested in data visualization and usability should take this course of you have the chance, it's really quite affordable and you get a set of his books with registration.

DrupalCon DC 2009: Quality Assurance and the Drupal Development Process

At DrupalCon DC 2009 I co-presented a talk on Quality Assurance and the Drupal Development Process with fellow CivicActions' team member Nathaniel Catchpole. Here is our slide deck from the presentation, and a link to the Presentation video. We covered some of the ways that techniques such as User Stories, Acceptance Tests and SimpleTests can be used pro-actively, before trouble is discovered.
