If you are a developer, blogger or a client who manages or participated on a technical project, screenshot-taking tools are a very useful way conveying your thoughts and ideas to others on your team. Screenshots save you from lengthy explanation emails and keep your team on same page while discussing an idea. 1. Skitch(mac only):
Skitch is more than just an image capturing tool. It is very quick, simple and efficient. You can edit your images - crop them, draw figures on them, write notes on them and share directly via uploading to skitch, flickr, ftp with many other options. 2. Jing (Windows and mac both):
Jing enables you to do three things: take screen capures, record videos of onscreen actions and share instantly over the web, IM, email. Jing also offers uploading your captures directly to ftp, screencast.com, flickr and many more.
3. Shutter (linux and GPL 3.0v):
Shutter is a feature-rich screenshot program for linux. You can take a screenshot of a specific area, window, your whole screen, or even of a website - apply different effects to it, draw on it to highlight points, and then upload to an image hosting site, all within one window. Shutter is free, open-source, and licensed under GPL v3.
No doubt this is best screen capture tool available for linux.

4. iShowU and iShowUHD (mac only):
iShowU and iShowUHD are best screen video capturing programs for mac. iShowU and iShowUHD are designed to record anything on your screen, instantly both audio, and video.
These are not free software you need to buy a license from Shinny White Box before using them.

- Pause / Resume recording at any time
