We Can Do Better is a web-portal created for the Archimedes Movement as a tool to help them activate a growing grassroots community of people working to reform the Oregon State health care system. The website provides the Archimedes Movement staff with a way to stay in touch with activists, share information, and organize members for strategic activities. The toolset provided gives local chapter and group leaders the ability to invite new members to join their group, notify group members about local and regional meetings, publish notes, share documents for community comment, and communicate with other chapters and groups statewide. Other tools provided include a user-contributed photo gallery, a resource archive, and a place for users to share their stories about health care in Oregon.

About Archimedes Movement

The Archimedes Movement was founded by former Governor, Oregon State Senate President and doctor of emergency medicine John Kitzhaber, who is well known in Oregon and beyond as an outspoken advocate for health care reform. The mission of the Archimedes Movement is to create a new space for civic engagement outside of traditional legislative and governance structures to advance solutions to the common problems we face – starting with the crisis in the U.S. health care system. The organization is tackling this issue by providing tools and support for stakeholders organized in local groups and chapters who want to get involved in this issue to do so effectively. The Archimedes staff provides information and support to the grass roots activists who are so vital a part of the fight for just health care.
