Open Media Suite Implementation

CMCM tasked CivicActions with setting up a Drupal module called MERCI on their website that would help them manage equipment rentals and inventory for their new facility. The Knight Foundation sponsored Open Media Project had just released the module and it was unclear if it would serve all of CMCM’s needs.

The CivicActions team assessed the specific needs of CMCM and connected frequently with the maintainers of the module. We followed its subsequent releases, and researched ways to configure the MERCI system in a way that met CMCM’s needs for now and into the future.

In a time when so much of American broadcast is controlled by a handful of corporate entities, CivicActions is proud to have empowered the Community Media Center of Marin to offer equipment, studio space and media education to seasoned and budding community content makers alike.

About Community Media Center of Marin

The Community Media Center of Marin (CMCM) supports, manages and produces non-commercial community-based media content and programs. CMCM encourages and supports the use of public, educational, and government access cable channels and resources among a broad range of individuals, organizations, and institutions within Marin County. It also facilitates the use of the PEG access channels as a public forum to promote a free exchange of ideas, information, and creative expression. CMCM fulfills this role by establishing, operating, and maintaining media production facilities and equipment at a Community Media Center and by providing the necessary services and resources needed to produce programming and content.
