New York League of Conservation Voters and NYLCV Education Fund

When CivicActions first began work with the New York League of Conservation Voters, they had an older website that had grown organically over the past few years. Users had difficulty finding the wonderful resources produced by the League, and its sister organization, the NYLCV Education Fund. These included Legislative Score Cards, Citizen Guides, Briefing Papers and Newsletter articles. The sites were also difficult for NYLCV staff to maintain.

We deployed the Drupal Content Management System with the CCK and Views Modules to create content types for the various resources produced by the League and Education Fund. Both sites share a similar look and feel, but distinct mastheads and color schemes distinguish them. Many publications which had formerly only been available as PDF downloads are now available as online content. The League has also launched a blog, Eco Politics Daily, which will feature news and information about politics and the environment in New York.

About New York League of Conservation Voters

At CivicActions we believe that knowledge truly is power, especially when it is in the hands of voters. That is why we enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to work with the New York League of Conservation Voters. NYLCV has been gathering and disseminating information about the voting records of politicians in New York for more than a decade. The League holds politicians accountable by publishing these voting records, and, during elections, interviewing and endorsing candidates who have voted for pro-environmental legislation. This information helps empower voters to cast their votes based on values of conservation. Our work with the NYLCV is completely in line with our commitment to environmental sustainability, civic engagement and participation and openness an transparency.
