JustCauseIt.com

JustCauseIt.com is the online community and social media companion to the JUSTCAUSE Magazine - first issue launched in July 2009. The site features social networking and groups functionality and aims to shine a bright light on individuals, corporations and change agents who are working for the greater good.  Users can create "Causes" and ask others to join them in making positive change in their local community or the world at large, post blog entries, or events alongside editorial content that will appear in the magazine.

JustCause approached CivicActions in May, 2007.  They had completed requirements gathering and had draft wireframes and design ideas, but required strategic and technical assistance to transfer their vision to a tangible web presence for a late 2007 launch and provide a companion to their forthcoming magazine.

Information Architect Ron Akanowicz worked with the JustCause team to refine and finalize their workflow and wireframes and Owen Barton managed managed the technical plan and priorities to fit JustCause needs and budget. Themer Bevan Rudge executed the website theme based on a visual design treatement provided by the client and Gregory Heller woorked on configuration of user profiles, organic groups, views and panels. Justine Hirsch managed the project team.

CivicActions developed a Drupal 5 website that fulfilled JustCause goals and provided training to enable the JustCause team to manage and update the site with minimal input from CivicActions staff.  The site includes a personalized dashboard block that links to the user's blog, causes, friends and events and informs a user of any new messages or comments.  Users navigate to interest areas Arts, Civic, Education, Environment, Health and International, and are able to view and create articles, causes, blogs and events and meet website Members affiliated with a specific interest area.
