Education Trust

We're very happy to announce the launch of www.edtrust.org, the website of Education Trust, a DC-based non profit that:

"promotes high academic achievement for all students at all levels—pre-kindergarten through college. Our goal is to close the gaps in opportunity and achievement that consign far too many young people—especially those from low-income families or who are black, Latino, or American Indian—to lives on the margins of the American mainstream."

To keep costs minimized and to ensure ease of maintenance, the site is largely built with contrib modules augmented by custom theming based off Acquia Marina as a foundation. There is a 'site-within-a-site' for Education Trust–West, a satellite office based in Oakland CA. This part of the site uses a child theme called by the ThemeKey module, when triggered by a particular taxonomy term and/or a URL alias specific to Education Trust–West.

The Organic Groups module also allows Education Trust to work closely with with a network of organizations, state departments of education, school counselor professional associations, higher education institutions, and school districts through their National Center for Transforming School Counseling.
