Artist Trust

Artist Trust came to CivicActions with a need to create a web presence that would serve to publicize the good work they are doing, as well as provide critical tools and resources for the artists the organization supports. Among the challenges for Washington artists are access to healthcare information (since most are self-employed) and access to a variety of other professional resources such as exhibit space, residency information, materials and professional services.

After gathering details about the requirements of each of the required tools, CivicActions developed a robust Event listing tool that lets website users browse events by kind of location. The addition of an Artist's Registry that lets artists across the state upload portfolio images and biographies to the website was also critical. This enables artists who did not have their own web presence to direct potential patrons and clients to their work, and lets website users browse artists by type (craft, visual, film) and by region (Central Washington, Northern Washington).

A resource registry completes the functional package, allowing members of Artist Trust to list resources they know about, and for others to browse these listings by category and region to find what they need near where they live.

These tools, together with theming and information architecture services also provided have helped improve the Artist Trust website, and enhance the services they are able to provide to artists, making them the central referral service for artists in Washington state.
