Bike NYC

Transportation Alternatives is New York City’s leading transportation advocacy organization, with a citywide network of tens of thousands of supporters committed to better bicycling, walking and public transit in the five boroughs. They hired CivicActions to provide visual design for the organization’s new project, BikeNYC, the ultimate hub for bicycling events powered by New Yorkers. We worked closely with TA’s key stakeholders to provide Visual Design that aligned closely with their brand guidelines but also met the client’s need for a responsive website.

YouthBuild USA Website Migration to Drupal CMS & CiviCRM

Client:
YouthBuild USA
Project URL:
http://youthbuild.org

YouthBuild USA spent several years using a closed, proprietary content and relationship management service (CMS/CRM) that seemed like a great leap forward at first. However over time they realized it wasn't nearly as user-friendly as hoped for, nor as open, with regards to data, as they needed. In the end, the proprietary system was unable to incorporate all the unique aspects of YouthBuild's data regarding their programs and contacts.

BAVC

Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC) partnered with CivicActions in 2010 to augment a powerful online portal connecting video producers, media makers and students to support BAVC's goals of empowering the public to bring their artistry and vision to public access television, and to teach the public video production and computer skills through educational programs.

The Sedona Conference - Website Development

The Sedona Conference (TSC) contacted CivicActions in June 2010.  They had started a project to transition their website to Drupal and create additional functionality but the project had stalled after a year as they identified their in-house skills were insufficient to meet their website goals.

Benjamin Doherty spent time reviewing the existing site and new Drupal implementation and worked with TSC IT resource, Nate Nelson to identify current status and desired functionality.

SACNAS Website Redesign and Rebuild

MapLight.org - Usability Assessment

Client:
MAPLight.org

"The project helped show us the user-centered design process from the ground up. It showed how effective the process was and how we could do it ourselves in the future... We had read books about usability testing and user-centered design, but you helped us learn the skills and demystified the process. It’s a new skillset that our organization can continue to use on our own."

-Daniel Newman, Co-Founder, Executive Director of MapLight.org
