Open
CivicActions is founded on a value of openness. We work with Free and Open Source Software solutions. We release our work under open source software and content licenses (such as the GPL, AGPL and Creative Commons). We work with our clients to incorporate openness in their work as well. The Obama Administration's Open Government Directive outlines these three core values:
- Transparency. Government should provide citizens with information about what their government is doing so that government can be held accountable.
- Participation. Government should actively solicit expertise from outside Washington so that it makes policies with the benefit of the best information.
- Collaboration. Government officials should work together with one another and with citizens as part of doing their job of solving national problems
We are excited to see out these values, often found at the foundation of Free and Open Source Software projects will be applied in government, and the possibilities of applying Transparency, Participation and Collaboration to the markets we serve.
CivicActions helps organizations understand what it means to "open" or moved towards a more open disposition, fostering greater collaboration, information sharing and cooperation with others in similar fields or markets. Ask us how we can help you open.
In the coming weeks we will be releasing more information about what open means to us, and to our clients. We invite you to check back, or to subscribe to our openness feed.
