Online Research Assistant

CivicActions is a globally distributed virtual network of passionate open-source talent serving organizations making positive change in the world.

We are seeking a recent college graduate or someone currently in school in either San Francisco, Seattle or Nashville metro areas to train as an online Research Assistant.  As a trainee, you'll learn research project methodology,  conduct field/online research, enter data and create summaries of research projects. Senior Strategists will interpret the results and trainees will have the opportunity interact with senior CivicActions staff throughout each research project.

We're looking for people who share our belief that technology is a driving force in creating positive change in the world and who want to actively participate in supporting world-class non-profit clients. CivicActions offers an opportunity to eventually work on projects for organizations working in human rights, environment, reproductive rights and many of the other areas of our world needing attention and change.

Most work will be done remotely, however, regular in-person meetings will be required.

Must be available a minimum of 10 hours every week, starting immediately and be able to meet weekly in Berekely, CA, Seattle, WA or Nashville, TN.

Qualifications

This is an entry-level position with the following skill and experience requirements:

  • A degree or working towards a degree in social, political or economic science, communications, or business.  Other disciplines will be considered if you make your case why it applies. 
  • Active participation in online social networks
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Interest in internet strategy and technology trends
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Competent in word processing, presentation (powerpoint/keynote,etc) and spreadsheet software
  • Most importantly: excellent online research skills. 

Experience with Drupal or website development is not required.  

Compensation
