MAPLight.org

MAPLight.org is a 501(c)(3) nonpartisan research organization which provides citizens and journalists with transparency tools to shine a light on the influence of money on politics. 

First launched in March 2005 as TakeBackCA.org, the non-profit focused on the influence of money and politics in California. In October 2006 the organization launched a website tracking money and votes in the California legislature. In May 2007 the updated MAPLight.org website expanded to cover votes in U.S. Congress, with a name change to reflect a focus beyond California.
