Drupalcon SF Session Proposal: Guerilla Usability Testing
Today is the final day to vote for sessions at Drupalcon San Francisco. My proposed session Show Don't Tell: Guerilla Usability Testing will outline quick usability testing strategies to bring users to the decision-making table. I noticed that this is the only proposed session at DCSF focused on User Testing so please vote for my session!
All too often we build complex websites based on pure guess work about what users want and how they will behave on a site. We are not psychics. Users often surprise us by navigating in ways we didn't even realize were possible. Metaphorically, we may build the equivalent of a skyscraper, only to find that people only use the restroom in the lobby. Show
Don't Tell: Guerilla Usability Testing will provide an overview of how to define a testing methodology, identify participants, facilitate and record sessions, present results and make recommendations. Let's bring user-centered design front and center into the design process, and show the Drupal community's commitment to usability.
I've also proposed two other sessions related to strategy and usability: Write Your Own Future: The Case Study as a Strategic Tool and What Do Users REALLY Want?. Give them your vote if you want to attend.
