Welcome to 2010! Couldn't get here soon enough, eh?

I think "can't happen soon enough" is going to become a theme for 2010.  I'm envisioning a year ahead that's filled with radical positive change.  I'm envisioning a year of abundant good work in the world, of measurable and increasing impact, and a vast, distributed network of hyper-connected human beings contributing their talents and skills to co-create a sustainable way of life. I see the principles of openness (transparency, collaboration, and participation) occurring like a total and irreversible change in the way humans organize and co-exist. The more we can promote and advance openness, the better off the world will be. 

And I'm not talking just about my vision for CivicActions. This is what I "Imagine" when I think about the world I want to see and live in.  And like the passing of 2009, this can't happen soon enough.

What's YOUR vision of 2010?  Or put another way, what kind of world do you want live in THIS YEAR?  I really challenge/invite you to consider the energy/vision you're creating for the year ahead not just in your own life, but in the world you inhabit and to find ways of sharing that (hint: the comments are a good place to start!).

At CivicActions, we've witnessed first-hand the power of creating a clear vision for the future (whether that's for a week, a quarter, or a year or more ahead) and generating strategies to realize that vision. We've learned it will almost certainly be different than what we expect/envision ("We make plans, God laughs") but the delight of being alive and creating in the world is getting to witness the result when our effort and intention meets the Great Mystery of Life.

One thing is absolutely clear: change happens.  It's always happening, and it's always happening Right Now.  The real question is what we're each individually doing to influence that inevitable change, and we believe the answer to that question begins with vision.  So what's yours?
