CivicActions - Fun and Productive Work
Submitted by Henry Poole on February 25, 2006 - 1:29pm.
If you're at the top of your game and your craft is design, engineering, project management, quality assurance, writing, animating, scoring, or administering, (and this week - ontologies), read about how we work to see if there might be a fit here. If you like what you see, pass us your bio/cv/resume at resumes(at)civicactions.com (subject: "I want to help CA change the world") and we'll circulate it amongst our team.
A little about us:
Independent - We are all independent contractors. We work from our homes, our gardens, our favorite coffee houses, and our favorite vacation spots.
Values Driven - We are very issues driven (we pick our clients as they align with the personal values of members of our group).
Open - We share all works (client deliverables and internal methodologies) under public license. We open our business and talent pipeline to our team to identify new clients and new collaborators.
Positive - We strive to create attractions to retain talent and clients (no traditional lockins).
Open Licenses - We each copyright our works and license it to CivicActions LLC (and then to clients) under AGPL, GPL, and/or Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike license.
More Open Licenses - When we co-create with our clients, they also license their works under AGPL, GPL, and/or CC so we are free to rip/mix/burn all of our works without encumberances, independently, as CivicActions, and/or as new groups.
Experts - We are specialists (Systems Engineers, Visual Designers, UI designers, Project Managers, Drupal Engineers, Application Specialists, Database Engineers, Security Specialists, etc.)
Affiliative - We have daily 'scrums' (calls with entire team) to share our todo list for the day (and share laughter).
Present - Our business model: we bill for time (partial hour increments). We setup practices where we are present, giving full attention to each other, our clients, and our craft.
Explorers - Team members who are very active with us are invited to a quarterly physical retreat (where we remix our values, align our vision, strengthen our bonds, recognize our perceived strengths and weaknesses, and prioritize our common agenda).
